Vice President, Data Sales and Licensing

The Vice President, Data Sales and Licensing will work with the EVP of Retailer Solutions to define and grow the customer base in various B2B channels including consumer packaged goods, retail, dining/QSR, financial services, governmental organizations and other sectors.

This role can be based in Boston, New York or Chicago.

Utilizing GasBuddy’s 800MM daily data points including footfall, trips, waypoints, reviews, ratings, location data and more; this individual must have the ability to work in a white-space, conceptualize the product for a specific market and develop the sales strategy into each market in order to build a $20MM+ ARR revenue line.  Overall, creating a need for those clients who will purchase various forms of retail and demographic data and data solutions.  We are looking for a hands-on, “sales coach” who can create and develop new markets and eventually hire and manage teams within those markets.


  • Identify and research prospective markets, clients, and customers to ensure applicability of products and services in meeting their needs
  • Collaborate with Product and Product Marketing around product specifics and product awareness programs for newly defined markets
  • Plan, prioritize and schedule sales calls and demonstrations
  • Develop sales proposals and related follow-up documentation for existing and potential customers
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline and forecasting processes to meet sales goals
  • Demonstrate products and solutions in both a web-based and in-office environment
  • Effectively connect solutions to solving client’s business challenges
  • Respond to client and prospect questions and overcome objections appropriately
  • Manage assigned client portfolio; address exceptional collection issues, activities or developments that may impact customers, competitors, products and their enhancements
  • Follow up with call and/or visits to customers to ensure a high level of satisfaction
  • Identify and resolve issues and problems and provide training as needed
  • Secure add-on subscriptions and renewals
  • Attend and participate in trade shows, conferences, and seminars
  • Promote product awareness, enhance sales skills and identify competitive products, potential customers, and product enhancement
  • Work in a collaborative manner within the sales organization, completing own assignments accurately and within established time frames and achieving departmental goals and objectives


  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of data and/or SaaS sales experience as an outside sales representative/manager in a related industry
  • Must have a successful track record taking data/SaaS products to market and delivering on revenue targets and company goals.
  • Experience selling data and data related products to medium to large business is a must.
  • Existing relationships within key markets: Finance, Retail, CPG, and Dining/QSR
  • Excellent sales techniques with ability to appropriately approach customers, make product presentations and effectively close sales
  • Works independently with minimal supervision, expected to make sound decisions based on judgment and experience
  • Make effective presentations to individual and group audiences
  • Technologically competent with ability to learn and demonstrate product features
  • Has ample discretion to resolve problems that may arise while performing the duties of the job
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with potential and existing customers
  • Effective communicator in both written and oral form with all levels of internal and external contacts
  • Strong attention to detail and history of negotiating complex customer contracts
