GasBuddy, the leading price-comparison gas app and website with over 60 million downloads and 11 million monthly unique visitors is looking for an Android Engineer to join our growing team in Boston. We are working on several new projects that will have a strong impact to our company and the users of our already popular mobile app. As the first Android engineer in Boston, your impact to the projects will be huge. The ideal candidate will feel comfortable both executing with autonomy on new projects and interfacing with our existing Android team in Canada. We're looking for engineers who enjoy delivering, staying up to date with the latest technologies and leveling up our engineering maturity.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Work on a small team to deliver Android experiences for new GasBuddy initiatives; creating UI and interfacing with our backend.
Interface with Product Management and Design in various stages of the product development life cycle.
Help manage beta programs for our new projects.
Ensure code quality, organization, and automation in our Android code bases.
1+ years of android development experience
Ability to work effectively on a team and autonomously.
BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent professional experience.
Experience building non-trivial mobile applications for Android or iOS using Java, Kotlin, Swift or Objective-C. Personal side projects are also interesting.
Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes.
Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, programming patterns, and best practices.
Strong verbal & written communication skills. You will work with both people next to you and people in remote offices.
